SLOAN CANYON FIELD GUIDE

Cooler or powered fridge?

Choose around your trip, cargo space and power plan—not just the biggest capacity number.

Two ways to keep food and drinks cold

Choose Useful when Plan for
Ice cooler You want cold storage without an electrical connection. Ice or cold packs take up space; plan drainage, replenishment and loaded carrying weight.
Powered fridge/freezer You have a suitable power source and want controlled refrigeration. Compatible power connection, ventilation clearance and a battery/recharging plan.

Compare selected models

Specifications below come from the current product listings. Quart and liter figures are not the same unit; can counts do not establish space remaining after ice.

Measure before choosing

  1. Measure the space available, including lid opening and access around the unit.
  2. Allow manufacturer-required ventilation space for a powered fridge.
  3. Add the weight of food, drinks and ice to the empty-unit weight when planning lifting and tie-downs.
  4. If using a slide, confirm its exact fridge-model compatibility, mounting dimensions and travel clearance.

Build a power plan

Do not treat a fridge’s rated input as a promised daily battery draw. Runtime depends on temperature, settings, loading and available battery capacity. Check the model’s manual and your power equipment’s output before choosing cables or batteries. A battery or slide is included only when the listing explicitly says so.

Keep the food plan separate from the gear choice

Follow food-storage guidance for the food you pack and monitor temperature. A large cooler or a cold display setting alone does not verify food safety.

Compare the full listed fridge lineup

Capacity and zone configuration are separate choices. Check exact dimensions, power connections and included items on each product page. A broad supplier size category is not the unit’s capacity.

Comparison uses the listed product specifications; missing or conflicting details are flagged rather than inferred from a model name. JP40 versions have differing published capacities, so confirm the exact unit before buying.
